Introducing “The Lanterns Pavilion 2023” – a 16-days cultural extravaganza running from September 16th to October 1st, 2023, located at the vibrant corner of Hay and Thomas Street in the bustling heart of Haymarket, Sydney. The mission of this non-ticketed, public event is to promote inclusivity, connection, and community cohesion through a lit-up lanterns pavilion Installation, roving performances, and a diverse range of food and beverage options around the area.
The event coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival and will feature a breathtaking display of over 100 unique and culturally diverse lanterns, arranged around a stunning pavilion-like stage. The display culminates in a spectacular lit-up moon installation on a towering structure approximately 3 meters high. Visitors will be immersed in a sensory experience that showcases the fascinating cultural heritage of the diverse community in Sydney.
To further enhance the cultural experience, there will be roving performances from 6-8pm during the weekend of the Mid-Autumn Festival which falls on 29th September to 1st October. These performances are intended to foster cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, along with interactive activities and a diverse range of food and beverage options.
One of the main highlights of the event is the opportunity it offers for people from all backgrounds to create their own lantern artworks, providing a platform for individuals and communities to share and celebrate their unique cultures. We also encourage local businesses to participate by offering unique offerings during the event to attract visitors and contribute to the promotion of local businesses.
